In order to train tomorrow’s young designers, IFA Paris will organize a contest between November 19th and 27th to win the 1st year of the Bachelor Fashion Sustainability Program. The goal is to give young talents access to a quality education on the principles of sustainability. More to come on this exciting contest on our Instagram Profile (@ifaparis).

Finally, on Friday November 25th at 6pm, a fashion show of 20 upcycled looks will take place at the school to show that it is possible to create in a sustainable way.

Why did the SERD choose the theme of textiles for this new edition?

The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world, emitting more greenhouse gases than international flights and maritime traffic combined.

Clothes have become an important part of our lives. They are sold at attractive prices, so we buy more of them than a few years ago while keeping them for less time. And this is not without its problems!

The manufacturing process involves many steps and processes that sometimes harm the environment and the people who make and wear them.

Today we need to cherish and wear our clothes longer, demand that they are made to last, ask brands to ensure that the textiles in our clothes contain fewer hazardous substances and are recyclable. We need to encourage reuse through shopping at thrift stores, yard sales, etc.

This year’s S.E.R.D. aims to mobilize us to ensure that our clothes and shoes are made through the respect of an ethical chart On a daily basis, we can all act to reduce our fashion impact on the environment. With simple gestures we have the power to change things.

That’s why IFA Paris is challenging you on Instagram for the duration of the S.E.R.D, 1 day = 1 challenge, are you ready for change? Check our Instagram Profile on Monday November 14th and start the challenge!
