Universal Love Association, in partnership with ADEME, is launching the Ethical Fashion Triathlon, an innovative competition endorsed by the Cultural Olympiad Paris 2024. This unique challenge is aimed at students from vocational high schools and higher education institutions specializing in fashion, crafts, and design, providing a platform to create unique ensembles from recycled objects, particularly second-hand clothing, linked to sports practice.

Educating through Innovation, The Ethical Fashion Triathlon goes beyond artistic creation; it also aims to increase students’ awareness about ethical fashion and recycling, integrating elements related to sports practice. This educational initiative underscores the importance of rethinking fashion as a key player in sustainability and ethics.

From Regional Stages to an International Final Exhibition

The regional stages of the Ethical Fashion Triathlon have already taken place in three regions of France, namely Île-de-France, AURA, and Hauts-de-France. The event will culminate in an international final exhibition in Paris during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This exhibition will bring together the winning ensembles from

the six French regions, along with creations from international designers.

IFA Paris and its’ Commitment

The international fashion school IFA Paris is participating in the competition through its integration into the Master of Arts Contemporary Fashion Design program in a workshop with Bridgett Artise. Students involved present their creations to a jury on March 4th, and the best designs will be selected for the exhibition. To create these designs, the school has sourced unused sports equipment from a sporting goods manufacturer, with the intent of upcycling deadstock into innovative and sustainable creations.

A Step Towards a More Responsible Future

The Ethical Fashion Triathlon is not just a competition but a catalyst for change.

Through its active participation, IFA Paris demonstrates the importance of practical education and concrete engagement in creating a more ethical and sustainable fashion sector.

By participating in this race towards innovation, students contribute to shaping a future where fashion and sustainability go hand in hand. Furthermore, this partnership offers them the opportunity to showcase their work at a major event like the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, thus strengthening the intrinsic link between fashion and sports.
