IFA Paris x Pathé: Fashion Show at a Special Screening of The Devil Wears Prada 2

To celebrate the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2, IFA Paris partnered with Pathé to create a unique event combining cinema and fashion creation. Before the screening, audiences discovered a mini fashion show featuring four designers, including two students from IFA Paris’ Fashion Design program, each presenting four original silhouettes.
A partnership between cinema and fashion creation
Through this collaboration with Pathé, IFA Paris continues its commitment to connecting students with the realities of the creative industry and major cultural events linked to fashion. Organized ahead of a special screening of The Devil Wears Prada 2, this mini fashion show gave students the opportunity to present their work in front of an audience of several hundred people, in a setting close to professional conditions.
For Raphaël, a Fashion Design student at IFA Paris, this experience represented an important milestone in his journey. “It’s the first time I’ve presented a collection in front of 350 people like this. It’s a little intimidating, but I’m really happy about it,” he explains.
The film also resonates with the realities of the fashion world and the ambitions of young designers. “The Devil Wears Prada 2 represents, for me, both the harshness of the fashion industry and that constant desire to find your place within it,” says Raphaël.
Between fascination with the behind-the-scenes world of fashion and reflections on the demands of the industry, The Devil Wears Prada continues to resonate with new generations of creators. This partnership between IFA Paris and Pathé also highlights the strong connections between fashion and cinema. For decades, the big screen has shaped imaginaries, silhouettes, and cultural references that influence both designers and the wider public.
When students tell fashion stories differently
Through their collections, the students presented two highly personal visions of contemporary creation. Helia, also a Fashion Design student, unveiled a collection inspired by surrealism and the mechanisms of the unconscious mind.
“I find my inspiration in the invisible, in what escapes us. I drew inspiration from the surrealist movement to explore this world where bodies transform and familiar points of reference become blurred.” she explains.
Through her silhouettes, she seeks to translate an inner experience, and her collection questions the boundary between reality and illusion. “People often say that dreams are manifestations of the unconscious, expressing the things that remain within us. I imagined my collection as a dive into a world where illusion becomes a form of truth.”
As for Raphaël, his creations explore the meeting point between the codes of adulthood and the world of childhood. “The idea behind my collection was to start from the archetype of adulthood and bring into it all the softness and roundness of childhood, through gentle materials,” he explains.
For him, fashion goes far beyond clothing itself. “For me, fashion is a way of elevating yourself. You can elevate yourself with a dress full of dramatic ruffles like in The Devil Wears Prada, or simply with a cozy sweater you’ve loved for years.”
A pedagogy built around real-world experience
This type of event perfectly illustrates IFA Paris’ educational approach: allowing students to confront their creativity with real-life situations, in front of an audience and under professional conditions. Developing a collection, designing a staging concept, presenting a creative universe, and defending a vision are all integral parts of the journey for students in Fashion Design.
Through projects, collaborations, and cultural events, IFA Paris supports future designers in building their artistic identity while preparing them for the concrete expectations of the fashion industry.
