IFA Paris Student Wins Top Award at Shenzhen Fashion Fair

Posted on 14/04/2025

From March 25 to 27, 2025, IFA Paris took part in the 20th edition of the Shenzhen International Underwear Fair (SIUF), a global event dedicated to the lingerie industry. A unique opportunity for its students to showcase their designs in front of professionals.

A Major Partnership with China’s Leading LINGERIE Fair

A true benchmark in Asia, the Shenzhen International Underwear Fair has, over 19 years, become the go-to event for international players in lingerie, swimwear, and innovative textile solutions.

IFA Paris is among the selected fashion schools collaborating with the fair as part of the Best International Designer Award (BIDA), an initiative that highlights emerging design talent on a global scale.

For this edition, IFA Paris mobilized all students from the Fashion Design Bachelor program around a common project: to design an innovative lingerie collection aligned with the evolving demands of the market. A selection of these designs was presented at the Shenzhen fair, providing them with an impactful international professional experience.

A Challenging Competition That Reveals True Talent

The Best International Designer Award (BIDA), dedicated to emerging design talent, offered our students the chance to put IFA Paris’ teachings into practice by creating a lingerie mini-collection. This competition provides young designers with the opportunity to join a global network and showcase their work to industry professionals. It also allows them to gain real-world exposure.

Guided by IFA's Head of the Design Department, students refined their creative vision and attention to detail. Their aim was not only to design visually striking pieces but also to incorporate ethical values, blending innovation with environmental responsibility.

Following an initial selection phase within the school, the designs of three students were chosen to be presented at the fair before an international jury.

Training Committed and Visionary Designers

Among the selected creations, that of Albina Bielik, a Ukrainian student at IFA Paris, stood out for its originality and the quality of its execution. Her collection, inspired by the surreal visuals of the film Annihilation, explores the boundary between the human body and nature through organic silhouettes and unique textures.

"This collection is a fusion of art and transformation, inspired by the surreal visuals of Annihilation and its exploration of the relationship between the human body and nature. Each look embodies elements of organic growth and anatomical forms.

Every piece has been handcrafted, with all latex leather created by me, ensuring a unique, sculptural quality. Additionally, one of the looks is made from silicone and mesh like fabric underneath. Further pushing the boundaries of material exploration. I hope you enjoy this vision of otherworldly beauty and transformation." explains the young designer.

Her collection was awarded the Best of the Best Award, the competition’s highest honor. This prize also came with a grant of nearly €6,000, recognizing not only her talent but also the strength of the education she received at IFA Paris. By placing experimentation and sustainability at the heart of the creative process, the school prepares its students to tackle the future challenges of the fashion world.
