Jury Day at IFA Paris in Istanbul: From Moodboard to Runway

Posted on 12/09/2025

At IFA Paris Istanbul, final-year students from the Bachelor in Fashion Design program recently took part in Jury Day. This important event allowed them to present the progress of their graduation collections, highlighting their creative process, design choices, and ability to structure a professional project.

A Full Presentation of the Creative Process

Jury Day is an educational milestone for students in the Fashion Design Bachelor, who present their graduation collections in front of a jury made up of fashion industry professionals.

At first, students unveiled their moodboards, reflecting the early stages of their design thinking. These boards included sources of inspiration, selected colors, silhouettes, materials, and the technical research that informed their development. Their approach to building a collection was carefully assessed.

At the end of the presentations, jury members provided constructive and targeted feedback. Students are now expected to revise their designs based on this input in order to refine and elevate their collections. This adjustment phase helps them gain in precision, coherence, and technical discipline before entering the next stage: pattern development and garment production.

A Moment for Feedback and Growth

The young designers presented their final collections at the end of the academic year, before a jury composed exclusively of fashion industry professionals. The collections of on-campus students were reviewed in person, while those of online students were evaluated through digital platforms.

One key goal of Jury Day is to evaluate students’ ability to speak about their work, explain their creative intent, and justify their choices, essential skills for their future professional lives. Each student had the opportunity to detail the concept behind their collection, explain aesthetic decisions, and demonstrate their ability to craft a narrative around their creations.

Each collection stood out through the choice of materials, the techniques employed, and its unique identity. The students shared their reflections as well as the challenges they encountered, offering an inspiring presentation experience. The jury assessed the coherence and depth of each project while highlighting the uniqueness of every creative universe.
