Bob Sinclar's Masterclass at IFA Paris: Music Meets Fashion

Posted on 04/01/2025

L'école de mode IFA Paris had the honor of welcoming Bob Sinclar, an electronic music legend and icon of the French Touch, for an exclusive masterclass alongside DJ and producer Sam Karlson. Engaging with students, he shared insights into his career, his vision of the music industry, and his connection to the fashion world.

From French Touch to Fashion Influence: A Unique Journey

A leading figure in house music for over two decades, Bob Sinclar has shaped multiple generations with his iconic tracks. Beyond his musical success, his carefully crafted aesthetic has made him an influential personality in the fashion industry.

During the masterclass, he reflected on his early days, the rise of the French Touch, and how the digital era has transformed the music industry. He also emphasized the importance of personal branding in a highly competitive landscape: “Be yourself, don’t try to copy or follow others. Create your own community.”

Adapting to industry shifts is essential for longevity: “It’s not easy to keep DJing the same way. Generations, tastes, and music change—everything changes—and you have to adapt.”

This reality applies to both music and fashion, industries that are constantly evolving.

Where Music and Fashion Intersect

Music and fashion have always been deeply intertwined, and Bob Sinclar is a perfect example of this synergy. Through his style, collaborations, and overall image, he embodies the connection between these two creative worlds.

Jean-Baptiste Andreani, Director of IFA Paris, highlighted the value of these exchanges: “These conferences are particularly valuable for students as they provide a real-world perspective, featuring top industry professionals with a strong focus on artistic direction and its ties to the fashion industry.”

This cross-disciplinary approach particularly resonated with IFA Paris fashion students. “I was so excited to attend the Bob Sinclar conference,” said third-year student Manon. “It showed us the creative connection between music and fashion. It was fascinating to hear about his career and beginnings."

A Moment of Inspiration and Exchange

Throughout the masterclass, Bob Sinclar emphasized the importance of connection and sharing in his profession: “I chose this career to share my passion for music, to truly experience this exchange.” A philosophy that aligns with the journey of IFA Paris students, who are also entering creative industries where engaging with an audience is key.
