The Metaverse, the virtual world where all things digital, gaming, 3D and alternate universe meet. While not a new concept considering platforms like Second Life have been around for over a decade, it’s currently a hot topic for fashion and digital asset designers. Advances in virtual reality, 3D wearable simulation software, and blockchain have increased the stability, validity, and commercial viability of designers trading their digital assets securely and authentically in this fictional world.Bio Mechanical Dress - Alejandro Delgado

So, if you’re an emerging fashion designer who wants to sell your designs digitally, you might consider partnering with startups like RTFKT, DressX or The Dematerialised, which sell designers’ digital assets using NFTs. An NFT is a non-fungible token. This token is unique and is assigned to your digital asset. It can be a digital design, a 3D fashion piece, or a movie, which you spent hours creating. The NFT cannot be altered, which means your design is 100% authenticated and your buyer will know it came from you. This means that designers can appreciate the true value of their work without having to worry about whether others will copy it or claim it as their own. This is especially game-changing in the fashion world, where designs are constantly being copied.

For emerging designers, this can be a viable avenue to launch a brand or career without having to have a lot of money to fund the creation of physical products. Although NFTs and digital fashion are still in their infancy, people around the world are currently crazy about NFT products. This new way of creating and selling for designers will change the system in the future in more ways than we can imagine.Balenciaga x Fortnite
