It was a dynamic, fun packed day on IFA Paris’ Parisian campus, working with Chinese make-up artists on the fundamentals of Creative Direction. From understanding themes, to posing, styling and narrative building, to working in the studio, the day was a fun mix of theory and practice, sending everyone home with studio skills and good memories.
Following a lecture on photography and styling basics, drawing on real world examples from the fashion industry in Paris, students had to try it for themselves! In teams, they quickly got stuck into coming up with strong, singular concepts that would work over several images.
They developed their ideas across make-up, clothing and accessories, guiding the hair and make-up artist and model, and sharing ideas about angles with Fabrice the photographer – quickly learning that directing can be just as challenging as creating inspiring make-up looks!
Working in the fast paced atmosphere of the studio set up, teams had to be decisive and prepared. Some of the girls chose to model, and we were very impressed with their posing skills! The day finished with lots of laughter, plenty of selfies, and a sunset over the canal de l’Ourcq! We look forward to welcoming Shirley and her artists for the next session!
