On January 19th, some of our MBA Fashion Business and MBA Luxury Brand Management students went for a field trip to the exhibition at K11 Art Museum in Shanghai called ‘Get a Life! – Vivienne Westwood Exhibition in Dialogue with Chinese Contemporary Art’.

With thirty-four years in fashion, Vivienne Westwood has surprised the fashion industry with her rebellious collections and has created a legend in the fashion world. This exhibition profoundly transports Westwood’s message: It is time to become more cultivated and in doing so gain the strength and wisdom needed to live life well now and to save the planet for the future.

The exhibition showcased Vivienne Westwood Red Label 2016 SS and Gold Label 2016 SS which called Save Venice / Mirror the World. Bellini, Giorgione, Titian – it was the period of the greatest flourishing of art that the West has ever known. Venice was an emporium of culture.

The students watched a BBC 4 documentary series examining the relationship between fashion and classical paintings. Vivienne Westwood looks at the costumes depicted in paintings from the classical, mediaeval and renaissance periods, and argues that modern art and culture are in danger because too little time is spent studying the past.

IFA Paris students really enjoyed this exhibition which relates the journey and universe of one of the most famous characters of the fashion world and her fights for ethical fashion and to save the environment.
