Working feather is an ancestral art and this activity consisting of preparing birds feathers and using them for garment ornaments or accessorizing has been around for many centuries. It started with elegant persons attiring themselves in flamingo and peacock feathers.
As part of their MBA in Luxury Brand Management program, students visited the Maison Julien Vermeulen, which emphasise the importance of merging arts and crafts offering the vision of a fashion designer as much as that of a feather worker.
The variety of colours and textures; whether it is peacock, pheasant or parrot, aroused everybody’s interest.
As a luxury accessory or an entire piece, feathers are rare and precious and are an important element in the fashion industry.
