Art on the Bund !

Few days ago, IFA Paris MBA students visited two art exhibitions in Shanghai. Report.

In June 1977, a famous editor, Glenn O-Brien, got an exclusive interview with pop-art artist Andy Warhol. The interview was improvised. O’Brien started with this question : « What was your first work of art ? »
Warhol answered, very seriously : « I used to cut out paper dolls. »
O’Brien : « And how old were you ? »
Warhol : « Seven ! » The fact is that there is no age and no limits to appreciate art and more, to create.

Last 3rd of February, IFA Paris MBA students spent one afternoon visiting two art exhibitions in Shanghai : « The Japan Contemporary glass art exhibition» and « The tears of tree Art Exhibition » by Mark Bradford at the Rock Bund Art Museum. Both are small and exclusive exhibitions located in the bund area, and were interesting to see.

« Students were able to walk through the buildings history

and feel the attractive expressions and power of Shanghai. »

But that’s not all. During this field trip organized by IFA Paris CAC, students were able to walk through the buildings history and feel the attractive expressions and power of Shanghai. The Rock Bund Art Museum, for example, occupies a sublime Art Deco building, originally owned by the Royal Asiatic Society. It
was renovated by British architect David Chipperfield in 2007. After several audacious solo shows by some of the rock stars of Chinese contemporary art – Zeng Fanzhi and Zhang Huan among them – the museum has taken a more international bent under French director Larys Frogier. In 2013, Rockbund (known
as RAM), partnered with Hugo Boss to host the Hugo Boss Asia Art Prize, further cementing its position, as one of the most influential art institutions in China.
