Yilei Wu, the founder of Xinlelu, the famous select boutique of Shanghai located in the famous district of Jingan, came to the IFA Paris campus of Shanghai to share her entrepreneurship experience.

Yilei Wu graduated from a London fashion school and established Xinlelu in 2009. Since, she opened her boutique in a Shanghai vintage district to propose individual fashion designers’ works, with a strong value on craft and expertise.

With some strong marketing skills – she also started her on-line business –, she accumulated abundant designer resources and reliable clients. Even overseas famous designers start to reach her because of her reputation. Her customers are mainly office ladies who adore fashion and look for special items. Brands that Xinlelu stocks include Shanghai-based brands Bubblemood – kimono-inspired jackets and dresses ; Mary Ching – luxury footwear ; or The Hat Lab – a line of sophisticated bohemian head wraps and chic military-inspired hats handmade using fine leathers, silks and suedes. In terms of jewellery, Shanghai is also extremely well represented with pieces by Josie Chen, Spoiled Brat and Kaileeni.

“One of our student, Anthony Guerin,

is now an intern there !”

Beijing based designers such as Belita Jewellery, Toupy and Gat Rimon are also part of the collection while the Singaporean offering includes very feminine womenswear by Aijek and the ribbon jewellery of Nana & Bird.

During these years, IFA Paris career and alumni continued to provide support to Xinlelu. One of our student, Anthony Guerin, is now an intern there, as an editor of the social media. In the campus talk, Yilei Wu share many interesting stories of her entrepreneurship experience. The students learned from her how to operate together a fashion boutique and to deal with the individual designers.
