Friday January 19th was an important day for all the designers who were presenting their latest collection during Paris Fashion Week. It was also an important day for the graduating group of students of the 2018 Master of Arts Contemporary Fashion Design of IFA Paris. Indeed, on this day and like every other year, the students from this program had to submit their final collections and present it to a jury of professionals. This represents for them 52 weeks of studies and now the most important step before graduating.
Ruktam Srinakarin
The members of the jury were Samuel Bardaji, photo stylist for magazines such as Vogue Homme International, l’Officiel, Tank or Boycott Magazine, Alexandre Paty, independent designer, founder of the avant-garde brand Gamutt, Codou N’diaye, journalist for the Journal du Luxe, Agustina Cattaneo, fashion consultant and lecturer at IFA Paris and Jean-Marc Chauve, Artistic Director of IFA Paris. Their mission was to select the collections which will be part of the fashion show organized by IFA Paris on January 26th, the last day of the Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week.
The jury paid special attention to the creative design aspects of each collection presented, as well as whether there was a clear brand strategy outlined throughout each one. Indeed, today’s fashion designers must possess a global strategic vision on top of their creative talents.
Chandani Pradhanang
As a result, six collections were picked for this event: the romanticism mixed streetwear of Ruktam Srinakarin, the minimalist and destructured mesh of Justine Belano, the romantic maximalist no-gender looks of Mei Po Ng, the traditional saris revisited under the prism of Paris modernism of Jessica Khanna, the Californian under acid glamour of Cynthia Arias and the silhouettes both graphics and draped with ultra-sophisticated colours of Chandani Pradhanang. These very different collections will give the audience, who will have the privilege to attend this new IFA Paris fashion show, a preview of the creative diversity of this very young international generation of designers.

We will be broadcasting the fashion show live on Facebook and Instagram (app only). Tune in this Friday, the 26th of January at 6 PM Paris time. See you then!
