Tanja Wiedner, lecturer at IFA Paris, who teaches sewing, pattern making and draping, took three Bachelor Fashion Design students to the ISPO fair in Munich for the “ISPO ACADEMY Masterclass”, a workshop which aims to reconcile sports and fashion, that is catered to students from fashion schools and other design schools.
Chloe Kerr, Menna Salem (both in 3rd year of IFA Paris Bachelor Fashion Design) and Aweriawhen Umuomo (2nd year) were invited to take part in the second edition of this Masterclass which includes 27 students from 9 international schools (Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, London College of Fashion, The Swedish School of Textiles among others) who work together on a given topic which this year was the “über jacket”, in other words, the ultimate jacket.
During three days, students followed classes on sportswear trends, on the new materials, technical and functional, and therefore could develop creative concepts for the “über jacket” topic, an ultimate contemporary winter jacket.
They also met production specialists, and received trainings on sustainable development and underwear. This interdisciplinary approach allowed the students to network with professionals and find new inspirations cooperating with students with different backgrounds and different education.
Their concept and designs were presented on the last day of the fair by five different groups of three to four students each of them working on a different theme: the cycling jacket, the functional jacket, the sexy jacket, the foldable multi-pockets jacket and the unisex jacket.
IFA Paris Bachelor Fashion Design students were happy to take part in this event and came back to Paris with new tools and inspirations to work on their final collection.
The program these three students are enrolled in at IFA Paris is the Bachelor Fashion Design and Technology.
