The famous outdoor brand The North Face continues its’ collaboration with IFA Paris. To summarize the previous collaboration: the students from the Bachelor in Fashion Design & Technology in Shanghai created a special capsule collection for The North Face for winter snow sports, specifically snowboarding!

In 2016, The North Face and IFA Paris already worked together with our Bachelor in Fashion Design & Technology students creating a mini sportswear collection (see IFA Paris - The North Face: a stunning design collaboration). And today, Eric Tosello, Managing Director of the North Face and Mahmoud Salahy, Account Manager for The North Face Asia Pacific and IFA Paris alumni, offered IFA Paris to continue their collaboration and bring it further. This time, the American brand specialized in extreme and mountain sports founded in 1964 by Douglas Tompkins, will produce winter clothes designed by IFA Paris students. A new capsule collection for winter sports and more particularly for snowboarders with the 2022 Winter Olympics to be held in Beijing in mind.

“During their last regional meeting, The North Face presented the designs created by IFA Paris students explains Adile Cretallaz, Director of the CAC (Career and Alumni Centre). It was a huge success since their work was mentioned many times. In the end, it was decided that the designs from one student would be produced by the brand. The North Face and IFA Paris decided to pursue their partnership which is a great show of appreciation.”The North Face modeling IFA Paris student designs

Originally, 20 students participated in the project. Then the works from ten of them were selected. Finally, seven students were chosen by IFA Paris and the person responsible of the project from The North Face. In May 2017, the brand selected the work of Indonesian IFA Paris Master of Arts in Contemporary Fashion Design student Niamita Gustanto, to create a prototype.

At the end of November, the winter garments created by Niamita Gustanto were showcased during the 2018 sales meeting of The North Face. Eric Tosselo, VP and Managing Director of the North Face Asia Pacific presented the collaboration project with IFA Paris during the sale meeting. The North Face will later send a sample of the collection to IFA Paris.

« Driven by its core DNA of "Never Stop Exploring", The North Face is again stretching its’ creative thinking beyond all limits and boundaries through the great collaboration with IFA Paris here in Shanghai by embracing Asia's young talents and providing them with a platform full of opportunities to keep them exploring their creative skills and abilities as they become the future designers of the fashion field! The result was amazing, a capsule collection of a futuristic snow-sports outfits that are extremely versatile and fashionable, one of a kind in the outdoor category! » explains Mahmoud Salahy
