250 selected guests, Chinese and foreign VIPs, designers from all backgrounds, general managers and CEO’s, bubbles of champagne, fashion insiders and the press gathered for a colorful parade: the latest fashion event organized by IFA Paris on the top of Bund 22 sparkled!
The high historic building built in 1906 – which then hosted the Financial Group Swire Pacific and the pens manufacturer Fenghua Pen, the Bund 22 is known for its red bricks. On the evening of October 28th, passion shone in all its glory during the fashion show organized at the legendary Bund 22 by the school of fashion and luxury management IFA Paris.
The tone was set from the photo-call and the warm welcome by Patrick Kouzmine-Karavaieff and Olivia Chai, co-founders of the school, who launched the festivities and a show that was placed on a high pedestal this year with two key words: prestige and creativity. “The prestige, yes, necessarily, in such a place, so trendy, so magnificent, which adds to the magic”, explains Emmanuel Rochet, Professor at IFA Paris and set designer for the event, which was selected for the occasion, “the musical atmosphere adapted to the creations, which were set almost as paintings.”
“Such a creative show requires months of work and preparation... Then, when the models, 13 women and 1 man wearing 45 pieces, rush on the catwalk, it’s only on for 25 minutes. We don’t think much anymore. Every detail is timed to the second, adjusted to the millimetre!” adds Denis Barricault, a professor of fashion design at IFA Paris, who was the master of the show behind the scenes.
With its historic partner (SUES) and its event partners (Orsay, Adidas, Laurent Perrier, Grand Mercure, Zabok ...), IFA Paris was invited to close – in style – the Shanghai New Couture Fashion Week 2016. Under the crackling flashes of smartphones, fifteen young designers in the Bachelor Fashion Design programs at IFA Paris, from both the Paris and Shanghai campuses and hailing from all continents presented their designs. The catwalk was lined with marble and high walls in stone and colourful, playful creations, often refined, embroidered satin and sequins, silk chiffon and ruffles made the student designs spectacular. Among them, the young designer Chandani Pradhang made a high impression to guests of the VIP area: Mark Liu, of the brand Alfred Dunhill, Bonnie Ren from Maserati, or Haiyan Li, CFO of Pierre Fabre, umbrella brand of Avène.
"Congratulations to IFA! That was great, sophisticated, and I enjoyed the models with round coloured tulle, very graphic, very punchy, very chic!” responded Eric Mazodier, former senior designer at Lancel. Same enthusiasm from Bo Chen, General Manager China of Bon Point and Christophe Cais, Managing Director of Albatross Global Solutions.
